Victoria Pavilion Arts is a project delivered by Sussex Support Service CIC in Uckfield. We passionately believe that art has the ability to make people feel good, build confidence and connect with others. We develop participatory arts activities and experiences with people who are often excluded and, through our gallery and workshop spaces promote and provide opportunities for local artists, creative practitioners and emerging talent. Proceeds from all our events and activities go back into the project. We are based in a fantastic and easily accessible location at Victoria Pavilion in Victoria Pleasure Ground, Uckfield.

Call for applications – Artists & Creative Facilitators to run community workshops
Victoria Pavilion Arts is always looking for artists and creative practitioners to deliver our series of arts-led community workshops. The aim of our participatory workshops is to enhance health & wellbeing, build confidence and help reduce social isolation. We provide high quality, meaningful arts activities and experiences for the whole community but especially those who are often excluded due to their physical limitations, additional care needs, rural location or caring responsibilities.
We work in collaboration with local artists and creative facilitators from across the Sussex High Weald and Lewes area . Activities are designed to accommodate the needs and abilities of all participants. Some experience or understanding of working with people with dementia may be advantageous but training can be provided. We are interested in hearing your proposals for hands-on creative sessions which can embrace any art forms – painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, mixed media, glass, music, filmmaking, digital art etc. Completed artworks will form part of regular celebratory events and public exhibitions in our dedicated gallery space which will showcase the achievements of all our participants.
Fee and time commitment
We offer £100 per artist/creative practitioner to deliver each Community Workshop. This fee covers 1.5hrs face-to-face facilitation time, preparation and producing a final creative piece of work. Depending on your proposal you may feel that more than one workshop would be appropriate to provide the best experience and we are more than happy to consider different approaches.
What we need from you:
We would love to know a bit about you and your experience. Please click on the Apply Here button below to register your interest.
If your proposed workshop fits into our current project, we will be in touch to arrange an informal chat. Unfortunately, we may not be able to respond to everyone as your expertise may just not be what we are looking for at the moment. By completing this form, you consent to us storing your details for possible future art projects and events at Victoria Pavilion. We will only use this information to keep you in mind for this purpose.
We encourage and welcome applications to broaden the diversity of our pool of freelance artists, to include artists from different cultural backgrounds, disabled artists, or those with lived experience of mental ill health. Please tell us about/get in touch to discuss any adjustments which would help you carry out this work.
